Description

I must have been in elementary school when my older brother would read me this excellent story by Shel Silverstein. When he would read to me, he would change his voice depending on who was talking. I loved it when he would read it to me like that. Here is what I imagine that tree would look like now had it existed in some storybook world that my brother an I left when we grew up. . .we're still growing up. Do the places in storybooks change as we get older? How do we really know? As adults do we ever go back and take a peek to those books that meant so much to us. The ones that pushed us into new directions. The ones that touched that human "something". Pencil and paper. A sketch from my sketchbook. One for my brother. No matter the arguments, our differences, I will always love him for those reading moments. Thanks for reading and taking a look. All you comments have been much appreciated. Hope all are well!

Truly a wonderful depiction. I had that book and read it as an adult, though I didn't do voices. It was an inspiring book. I am so glad you had such a wonderful experience with your brother and this book.

Beautiful drawing. I love the texture of the bark and the angle of the hill. My grandfather (Popop) used to read this to me when I was a little girl. He has been gone over 26 years now, but whenever I see this book it takes me back to sitting in his lap as he read it to me over and over again. Thank you for the memory! Angie

Thanks for sharing Arie. And I love the strength of the tree, and it's visible reliability.
