You have made a good looking robot and I cannot help you to improve on it, but I can help you to get a better looking render out of Bryce. When using Bryce for a render, it usually helps to use terrains instead of a plane. And you should use the highest resolution terrain your computer can handle. That way the texture will look the best. When you use an infinite plane for a ground or water you get lots of tiling in the texture and it does not look as realistic. Remember also in Bryce that you can use many terrains to assemble your environment. You are not stuck with just using one. You can also paint lattices in the terrain editor to assemble into buildings, roads, and furniture. If I have told you what you already know then please ignore me. Using light domes for lighting instead of the default Bryce sun is another way to kick up your renders a notch. Search for light domes in the Bryce forum and you should come up with lots of material to help you there.
