BIOI was born in Russia and lived in S. Petersburg for 60 years. Most of my career spent teaching at the Marine Engineering University. Since 2000 have been living in Regensburg (Germany) with my wife and daughter. I began taking pictures in 2003 and almost all my photos have been taken around Regensburg. Music and long walks in nature are my pet likes.
Have joined Rendero in 2003 and have met a lot of wonderful people here. Allways enjoy the beautiful works by so many excellent artists and have got lots of inspiration by theirs works.

I hope this area will be reseeded. so much forest is being destroyed with no concern for the future. excellent dof

A simple scene yet so full of meaning. A once pristine spot, still beautiful somehow.

Beautiful capture, Valentin. I can hear the twigs crunching under my boots :-) I would love to walk here, to see over the horizon.... you always make me want to see beyond the shot, you lead my eye there. Hugs. Di.

Such a sad image. The sky further adds to the feeling of desolation and despair.Well seen,Valentin. The yellow branch really makes this work. There is something very 'painterly' about this...

Great capture and mood! Bravo!!!

I guess some see this as sad but I see it as an opportunity to use a natural resource to meet needs while teaching us all how to appreciate those natural resources. Sometimes things like this are needed to prevent devastating forest fires that might burn out hundreds of innocent people and broil wildlife in their burrows. I, too, hope this area is reforested and done properly. For now, its a wonderful place full of fresh air scents, rustling twigs underfoot and bees in the air (HEY! Everyone do the Bee Dance!). Great photo.

Remarkable capture! Speaks sadly of irreversible destruction of splendid woodlands. Great photo!

Makes you wonder how it was before. Beautiful in a rather sad way. Love the compo!

I find it disturbing too to see the nothingness where once tall trees stood. Thought provoking capture. The scene still contains a lot of beauty.

The image is beautiful, but I really like how you didn't rant about the scene in the notes like so many would have. You simply thanked us for looking and allowed us to form our own conclusions from your shot, which I think is very mature of you.
