Description

It was very hazy when I took this picture with my trusty AE1 and a 200mm lens. The crater is a mile wide and you can see the bulge where the volcano is rebuilding itself. It's still quite dangerous. The U.S. Forest Service wasn't letting anybody closer than 5 miles to it earlier this year because it was huffing and puffing again.

Oh My! Buffalo, I think I am in love with this landscape and mountain top :-) The purple hue look so like the heather on my home moortops in North Yorkshire, UK. Glorious post. Hugs. Di.

five miles would make me nervous. when I was in the Filipines I went to Taal volcano and they had boats going to the crater but I was chicken. they only had a small engine and if there was a problem forget about making it back to shore. people actually go there everyday to do farming.considering the haze a great capture

Dear friend. What a beautiful scene. I feel so blessed that you took this photo of one of my favorite places on earth. Having grown up in the area, you really have made my heart happy. Many thanks, and Big HUGS!!!

It takes only a second to realize that this is treacherous terrain and the difference between safety and destruction may be just one click away, the stark foreground bearing witness to that. Very well presented.
