Description
View from the Palace of Culture and Science. An interesting and imposing landmark- a bit like a Soviet Empire State Building. Just nearby at the top were some great ice sculptures, one of which I shot and uploaded a while back. Apparently the Rolling Stones played here in 1967, I'm sure that was fun...

I love seeing poland. I grew up in a very large family of polish immigrants. I was the first generation of the american family to not speak polish (the story goes i did until i was four or five, and then my father moved us, up till then we lived two doors down from my great=grandmother. She did not speak english. my grandmother preferred polish, now she has Alzheimers, she speaks a great deal of polish these days) I think it's a little odd and kinda sad To have grown up with such a strong sense of culture and heritage and not be able to relate to it in any real way. But i'm glad and proud to have lived my life so far in Detroit Michigan.

bluliner35- wow, thanks for the family background...and of course for checking out this image. One of my favourite bands, The Stooges came from the Detroit area, as did the MC5 obviously. Plus all the Motown material. Quite a musical and automotive heritage there. Cheers.
