Description

Jahntu, the bull-derived Beastman, called out to Amma, "Did you check on the Measure? Like the traveller asked you to?" He climbed up the shuttlecraft ramp with his heavy glowing cargo and turned to face in her direction as the elevator pad stared up. Across the hangar, Amma, the mouse-derived Beastman, was pulling a dolly with a parts bin and tool chest on it toward the shuttlecraft. She stopped and listened. After a moment, she spoke into her collar comm-unit to him, "Uh...yeah. She's sleeping now. She really fixed that wierdy Probability Inducer? I'm impressed. It's said that she can fix anything. Can sing ,too." Jahntu looked over at her. She was sweeping the room like a radar dish. She was really skittish, ever since they on-loaded cargo at city 32. He asked quietly, "What's up?" She shrugged and went back to pulling the dolly toward the ramp up to the shuttlecraft. "Dunno. Something....is in here with us. Optical chamoflague or something. I heard it follow me in, when I got parts for the shuttlecraft that Mirelle paid for. When I saw them Bio-troopers hauling that Scav that looked like Kruag from one of their transports." He shrugged and said cheerfully, "At least we can safely assume it wasn't from the Bloody 32! If you had seen something they didn't want you to see, and there was an invisible killer onboard, you'd be dead already. Right?" "Maybe. They might be waiting til we dock over at City 64. They might want to blame it on City 64. Even City 32 doesn't want to piss-off the Air-Traders Guild! These huge airships bring goods and cargo from all over the world to the Flying Cities. Hey! I just noticed! You got the old Probability Inducer that Mirelle had in the parts bin working! Good job!" She smiled at him with approval. He paused at the door of the shuttlecraft, and said, "Yeah--the Measure showed me how she got the other working, just after she boarded. Don't know what they're good for, but we now have two working models of what I think is alien technology!" She started giggling when he mentioned aliens. "Wildcat parts and procedures and parts use DOES NOT mean aliens! God! Don't start that again." "Harrumph! I have business to do, and then to sleep." He stomped into the shuttlecraft, while she stowed the parts and tools inside the cargo bay of the suttlecraft. On top of the suttlecraft, unseen by all, a figure watched their activities. It watched with a mind more cooly advanced than their own and slowly and surely, drew its plans against them. --TO BE CONTINUED-- Media is Poser 6, Shuttlecraft modelled by me in Wings. More on the Measure's end of things coming up. ^__^
