Description

"If the whole human race lay in one grave, the epitaph on its headstone might well be: 'It seemed a good idea at the time.'" ~ Rebecca West

"Has anyone seen my fingertip(s) ...and my wingtips for that matter...?" A little pre-Halloween image to get in the mood for tomorrow. Taken at a cemetary in St. Mary, Georgia. Postworked to give it an infrared flavor. -----

LOL well Kort, it sure is a funny title and very apt too, I might add ! Love the Rebecca West quote and how true that is :o) I love going to cemetaries and taking pictures...we've got a gorgeous one here in Jax with some really old graves. This photo is superb ! Have a great day S hugs

Pretty creepy. Are you sure that's not her middle finger? Ha! KP

Great capture and postwork. I'm sure the lady has seen better days. Almost looks like she's made of dirty ice, or are those smears of carbon black? Good black and white ambiance of a dreary and sullen mood. The kind of stuff you see in horror movies, and an apt contribution to Halloween.

Nice shot man, as usual (great quote too). I have a suggestion, however: since the statue has alot of the same colors in it as the ice-covered trees in the background, you could selectively darken the trees to make her stand out a bit more. Can't wait for your next upload, you always keep me guessing as to what you'll do next.

Thanks for all the great comments. 'Our Lady' is made of a very dirty looking marble, and this was taken in the summer. The postwork gives it the wintery feel and the 'ice' on the trees is spanish moss

Excellent snap here and quotation! Which finger is that that's missing? :) Really love the old, decaying look of this :)

Oh, how funny! We have similar monuments in our old cemetary here. Vandelism over the last century had taken its toll as well as many storms. I never thought about photographing them for humor before but you may well be on to something... ! Great photo.
