Description

This is the United Nations exploration ship Alvarez. Like it's sister ship, the Whittier, it was designed for economical travel within systems. It is equipped with many scientific packages for mapping planetary bodies and regions via radar, IR imaging, radio telescope and other related technologies. It has a crew of 20, and utilizes a small reactor, approximately like that found on modern day submarines, to supply years of reliable power. Both ships were constructed in space, and only rely on the rocket propulsion in short bursts to initiate acceleration, using planetary gravity as a means of boosting speed. The ship's framework can be adapted to any number of experimental packages with one or two EVA's by it's crew. 3DS Max 6, rendered with Mental Ray; some enhancements with Photoshop. All objects are original models. Thanks so much for viewing and comments.
