Description

Acrylics on cartridge paper, c.1998 Haven't done any artwork for a while, so decided to post this little thing from about 8 years back - I'm going to use it as part of the artwork for one of my solo CDs which will feature music from that period. Bit of colour transformation on this one to make it sing a bit more than the original - also some cropping. I should point out that if you zoom in, the full version is quite a bit bigger and a lot crisper, more detailed ;-) Thanks ever so much for stopping by and your feedback is always most welcome :-)

Oh yeah, sure you painted this, you got it from Google Earth, I know it! Seriously, you have to show me how to do this when you get back, I really love what you've created here, the colours just blast out and I adore the textures you've captured. Thank you SO much for creating and sharing all that you do hugest hugs xxxxx

It was mostly the Surrealist technique of decalcomania - crushing the paint so it flattens out into coral-like formations - and holding the sheet up to let it run in various directions. The white acrylic was in liquid form, a milky consistency, which really helped with forming those subtle colours and textures as the other colours (just ochre, sienna and blue if I remember right) would flow and run into one another :-)

I love the textured effects of this, and the colours. Lovely:)

If I bend my head to the right, I see a sky shark making clouds for an angel. Or, a swordfish making foam for a mermaid. :) I love this abstract! Your colors are wonderful and, as you see, I can really get into it and make it my own. Great textures too. Excellent, I think this would be great on a CD Jim. Have fun with it.

Whenever I try this technique it never turns out as well as this! It actually looks like something other than squashed paint (apart from a few white blobs near the bottom). Can't tell what colour transformation you did though. Very topographical and much to my taste :-)
