Description

I got bryce6 from daz and spent a whole day downloading it(Dial up)Rendered this simple image and was pretty happy with it..Then tried another with some reflective surfaces..that one turned out O.K. also..then i tried something with water and reflections and character..the program rendered the image but wouldnt let me save it..so started again from scratch to recreate the same image...(Saving scene files along the way).as it was rendering i noticed that my photoshop and poser programs had stopped because the new bryce was using up all my CPU power and even looking at things on the internet were intereupted by its use..well it ended it render and wouldnt let me save again and when i reopened a save scene file for the image it wasnt complete.it had only saved the very first time i hit save and didnt save any of the other times..Then i got a letter from my Favorite bryce artist Vjera(from Croatia)saying she couldnt get her bryce6 to work either and DAZ wasnt returning her mail..so i went to the DAZ Forum and found out that it is just one big honey covered mess over there...The thing is so full of bugs!!,, i would give them a chance to fix it before you load it in your computer as it is one big hairy bug....I think it is a very poor way to test the product..they did this with DAZ studio, but that was part of the development of a free program...This is not..Sorry to gripe all the time but the quality of our artwork and depth of our pocketbooks is at stake..and to say you get a new upgraded program for 6 dollars(members only) is a farce too.as the program hasnt changed that much, but you can buy the new content that should have come with it for 95$(unless you are a member)..and most of that is old and for bryce4 and 5 and has been for sale for ages. I would be more than happy to here of your experiences with this new program ..good or bad..as the forums at daz are really rather honey coated and i dont see anyone very concerned..the only suggestions i have had so far is for me to become one of the beta testers..but that sounds like a job and i already have 2 of those..but now Bryce6 users, we have all paid to be the testers..

I haven't had any problems with Bryce 6 so far.. but I only finshed 2 renders with it till now, mostly experimenting with HDRI. Seems to work fine. The saving issues you describe sounds like what I experienced all the time with Br5.5 on my old machine.. Loveley image, btw! :)

Well Bill, I guess I'll have to wait to install my Bryce 6! I don't want it shutting down my other apps! Wow I can't imaging how long it took to download Bryce using dial-up! What a tedious ordeal that must have been! Some of those content files were huge! Awesome image BTW! The giraffe rendered beautifully, and the lighting looks terrific! Oh, when I use Vue I have the same issues with other programs locking up so I don't use anything else when Vue is running. I do long renders overnight so I don't have to wait! LOL Thanks for all the info about Bryce!

For me it's a so so....it remindes me of the little card in craker Jack boxes with wild animal that you were mooving from side to side to see them kiss.or run.

I love the image Bill, but am sorry to hear you're not impressed with B6. I bought 5 when Daz took it over, and used it a few times and never touched it again. When 6 came out for $6, I thought, "I'm not buying it, I never use Bryce". But, for $6... I decided to go ahead. I did the same thing with Hexagon when they aquired it. I don't use it either! But I can't pass up a bargain like that. Hopefully they will work out the bugs and release a patch. One thing I do like about it though, is how it works with DS. I haven't touched DS in a while, but wanted to play with B6 so decided to set up my scene in DS and liked how it integrated with Bryce. That's kind of handy. But, DS is not Poser, and I still prefer Poser. Ok, I'm done rambling. Gorgeous work!

Wow Bill. It sounds like the old Poser upgrades on my Win98 machine.. YOW. I'm too poor right now to upgrade and I appreciate the experiences of prior users. DAZ has got its work to do.. Remember when Bryce had good memory management? I hope they fix this.
