Description

Nothing spectacular here. This is just something I put together in Bryce a while ago and brought into Bryce 6 last night to redo. I forgot to turn on Report Render Time, so I don't know the exact numbers, but by my count it took a little over 15 hours to complete. I was doing other stuff at the time, so chances are it wouldn't have taken quite that long. I slept through the majority of it. The image was originally at 1800 X 1200, rendered to disk and used both HDRI and Total Internal Reflections. I don't have any HDR maps right now (I just haven't bothered to get any), so I used the Light Cluster sample scene and stripped it of all objects. Not sure if the TIR helped (in both this HDR version and the earlier version I did with 5.5), but I think the end result looks pretty good anyway, even if it is nothing more than a a few spheres. Resized doesn't do this justice. If it weren't for the 512 KB limit, I'd put the larger sized version up here. I could get it under that limit, but that requires pushing compression to at least 32%. And quite frankly, I don't think it looks nearly as good as this lower resolution version, which is less than 10% (I forget offhand what I used).

Actually, I DO find this piece somewhat specatcular! Simple is so under-rated these days - I really like what you have done with a few simple objects and a LOT of work with the lighting. So from me, you get a BRAVO!

A delicious render!! Well worth the approx. 15 hr render time! Simple is often the best and the bright colours and the silver surface they rest on make for an eye-catching image. Well done!

I was always one for reflections and light. This totally mezmerizes my facination for that. An excellent concept and simplicity of texture and subject truely captures the effect here. KP
