Description
Vue6I and SkinVue6 - A Re-Render of an older image I did some time ago, this time using Vue6 and SkinVue6. The biggest improvement here is the presence of Sub-Surface Sacttering which makes the face appear more alive. SkinVue6 uses what is sometimes called "Fake" SSS as the SSS calculation is done by using a luminosity map which supplies the render engine the intensity and placement of scattering. The most visible effects of scattering which can be seen here are a light red glow in thinner areas of skin (e.g. the ears), reddening in the shadows, and a reddish pink color in areas that go from light to dark.

Dave, this is a fantastic render. The subtle sss effect is outstanding. For some reason, his eyes don't seem to quite match his face, but I can't put my finger on why. Also, I think the specular (oiliness) could be increased to give more realism, perhaps with more bump. Love the face molding that you have done - presumably in ZB2. Great work.

looks just as good as zbrush.
