Description

This image proceeds from an image. The Marines Histroical Foundation will dedicate their memorial on 10 November in four more days. The image I have as focus is December 1969 and I found markings from an F-4 (XMAS 1969)in the wikipedia in an article about VFMA-115 as I was researching MCAS Cherry Point. This was Joe Foss "Joe's Jokers" and it is currently at MCAS Beaufort flying F-18's. The wing markings of a Phantom I seemed consistent with this image and so I used that for the areas revealed here on the f-18 and AV-8A. There are no AV-8A's in VFMA-115 and no Skyhawks were ever in it either. Boeing has not dictated this image. Nor does it correctly depict use of pods which would have only been used on EA-6's in the 1969 era. This is how I saw what began at Wake Island in WW-II and was expanded at Okinawa in the form of joint Air Ground operations. I have never had hands on any of these planes. My contact was with men and paper. Three of these aircraft have been used by the Blue Angels and significantly the one that was not is unique to the USMC.

An untextured but mapped F-18 is a download in this scene. I picked it up to commemorate the F-18G "Growler."

I would have thought mid-70's; the F18 is anachronistic, but who cares?..;) great work here, can feel the sunlight and the Pacific below..great work..keep 'em flying.

Wonderful job per your usual. If somebody gave me the choice, I would take the A4 over the other three. I like the oldies.
