Description

I'm fortunate to be seeing a lovely woman who has three equally lovely children. Some time ago, her then husband and father of her three children chose to no longer pursue a life together with them, leaving her to raise the children mostly on her own. This image then, is to celebrate her and her triumphs. Its the first image I've done that, at least consciously anyway, has some kind of symbolism associated with it. The overall concept of the tower is one of strength and stability. The mother of course is the tallest of the four towers - see how she supports her three children, yet at the same time they support her as well. The towers contain water to represent depth of character and each of the four towers are overlapping to represent that, though they are individuals, they are all interconnected as one family. As well as a tower, each of her children is represented by a golden orb, for they are as good as gold, and also by a light, for they are her shining lights. The mother herself is symbolised by a tree (a Japanese maple - for no real reason other than I like it!)) because she is the giver of life. The spiral stairs are to represent the flow of knowledge from the mother to the children - though I made the steps wide enough so that the knowledge can flow in both directions. Rather than stairs to link the children together, I chose to use ladders as these seemed a bit more playful. The four towers then rise together through the clouds and into the sunlight to represent their triumph over adversity. All my own work in Bryce 5.5 except the signature. A special thanks to Mirek (tse60) who kindly provided me guidance and examples on creating such convincing clouds! All comments gratefully received. Note: updated slightly from original version - improved the clouds.

This is a great concept and a very nice picture. The symbolism is especially nice (I am the father of 3 children and I hold my wife in the same high regard). My only comment is that openings in the rails at the tops of the ladders would have established a better connection between the platforms. Still, this is a beautiful picture! Thanks!
