Description

Another test picture in Vue 6. I have rendered the same scene in Radiosity mode (top) and in Ambiant Occlusion...(down)... Could be interesting as a comparison ...

WOW! What a perspective. This really pulls me in. :) Love the colors, textures and lighting too. I prefer the second image because there is more contrast.

Great comparison, I feel the AO looks more authentic for this type of render and from the small amount in using Vue 6 it's a lot quicker as well, I see you have used the area lights as well they look wonderful I go with AO on this one, and its hardly noticeable on outside shots as well.

Really great, the second one i prefer more, the colors come out clearer, but the first one seems to be more realistic.

I am wondering what was the time difference. The color bleeding in the radiosity render makes it the preferred render for me.

Time ratio is about 1 to 2. 60 minutes for the radiosity mode and 32 min for the AO mode ... But it depends on what kinf of scene you render .... This is not a rule. .... only for this picture

I prefer #1 for smoother and more natural light. A super scene Patrick.

Awesome scene and render...Hard to say which one I like better...maybe I prefer the 2nd one because the lights look a bit more intensiv...

both are nice... would be nice if the water make some caustics on walls... but maybe will be in vue 7 :)

Excellent stuff and thanks for sharing. Definitely the second image: contrast and lighting are better particularly on the fan. Or maybe it's because the light in #2 looks like a film photo?

I have to agree with Surama: they are both terrific. I suppose that I prefer the radiosity version for the lesser contrast. Very interesting and informative post - thanks.

Hi, top picture appears darker and more gritty than the bottom picture - though IMHO the water in the second picture is more realistic

I guess I disagree with most here... The shadows are un-realistically sharp with the 2nd (ambient occlusion) pic. The first one's radiosity shadows look much more realistic.

WOW!!! I think the Ambient Occlusion one is the better of the two. Well Done Patrick.

Fantastic example!!! The radiosity version looks more real, and there is greater tonal range in the light and shadow areas. The occlusion lighting (Heard it was better?) looks harsher and has less range. Thanks you for this awesome demonstration! And fantastic scene!!

Superb rendering of a fascinating scene - looks like a computer game! i prefer the top image - the less contrast actually looks more realistic. Still; they are both awesome!

I just love the diversity of your works, Patrick and this one here is no exception! Like 'em both, but since we have to vote '-)...I will also choose the first 'though I am wondering what kind of machine you are running to render this in an hour?
