My LOTR tribute, for my daughter, who's breathless first comment upon viewing this beautiful epic movie was "Oh Mom! Did you see the gorgeous elf??" It's my hope that someday she will be able to see the forest behind the elf *g*.
The background was an exercise in Bryce .. the terrain is 4 terrains stacked , all with different textures some created in the DTE and some created from free ground cover I found at Digarts, samples from the Jungle3D pkg. Stacked one on the other I think I like the effect.
Every thing you see of the background is in the actual Bryce file, the trees except for a couple are made from Johnathan Allen's tut, then I grab some foliage from another model and mixed and matched. I also added another tree top in among the background trees.
The far right tree is one I painted and then applied to a symmetrical lattice , then I used a Jungle 3D canopy for the tree top. The ferns are first made in painter and then also applied to a symmetrical lattice .. to finish it up I used the old "Lit Rays" material on cones trick (Andy uses this in a tut he has on his site).
The whole idea was to create myself a forest library of parts so that I can construct forest images a bit faster .
Hope you enjoy .. Wood elf was created using Mendis fantastic "Wood Elf".. there is a detail of him in Poser for anyone interested .

Extremely fine work. You are commtitted to excellence. I do wonder how it would look with a calm surface on the stream though. All your work is exceptional
