Description

Because of our last like in the heat of the day was exhausting, Terry and I decided to walk the lava flow in the early mornings where its much cooler. He came to my house at 2:30 am, got some ice and picked up two friends to join us in the hike. It took us only 1 hr to find some lava. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Seems like it would be easier to spot the red of the molten rock like this but harder to see where you were stepping... Great shot.

I usually get up at 3:30 for my job so 2:30 wouldn't be all that unusual....but then I'm not hiking out on a lava field. Amazing! I'd still be scared to get within a hundred feet of that stuff.

wow so cool. It reminds me of the times I'd get up in the middle of the night to go bow hunting. Isn't it fun? :)

LOL...Our get up time was 1;00 am for us. Terry lives about a 20 minuted drive away from me. MrsLubner, when its full moon, one can walk without flash lights. But with only half moon, we needed our flash lights in some areas especially around the lava ooze. Don't want to trip into the lava, lol. Aloha

It must feel incredible to stand on this! Is the smell overwhelming? What sort of temperature is it where you are standing?
