I always wondered how a night run between an SS 396 and a 440 Magnum would come out. Top end or 100 mph punch. Just to have it in the bag of tricks in case the Highway Patrol approached when I had girls in the car. We had long before left for 35000 feet and I never found out. I did meet an FHP trooper at PWP who said he went 135mph all the way to Gainesville one day. That was just adding endurance to the brags in the office by local police supporters in 1957. It didn't refute the story that local police cars could not go over 95 mph after idling all day and fouling their spark plugs. "The pride of the fleet" here.
