Pelza expected to be seen immediately like she had whenever she had injured herself in the Agri-Domes. It was several hours later before she was seen by what passed as doctors in Trashtown. Her adrenaline at riding a dragon across the river, and almost being blown up had faded and she felt so wracked up with pulled muscles, she almost didn't notice her broken left arm. ALMOST. Doctor Lil Toungo checked her out and applied nano-bots to the area, and had her taken to the Mag-lab to charge the bone. An hour later, Pelza had her cast taken off. She flexed her arm. It hurt like hell, but didn't feel broken any more. Dr. Toungo said,"Watch it! No heavy lifting for a couple of days, alright? Now a question...how are you going to pay for this?" "Errrrr?" Pelza thought furiously. Just having been kicked out of the Domes with only her personal equipment, she didn't have much to trade. She responded, "How about the biosuit I wore? That is still intact, though the helmet is missing?" "Well...that would help. A lot! You have any medical skills?" Lil looked speculatively at Pelza and raised an eyebrow. Pelza thought and responded enthusiastically, "Yessim! I treated animals without ports in the Dome! I guess that WOULD be similiar to treating un-ported humans out here. You can't inject standard nano-bots--unless they have a way OUT of the body. That'd mess up the patient's kidneys. Right?" Lil laughed. "You're a trained Veternarian? Dome educated? You might know more that a standard Doctor out here in the real world. We've been swamped for the past day. Alright get dressed in one of the nurse uniforms in the wardrobe over there. You want to pay off your debt, and do something worth-while ---GOOD!" "ONE RULE--Everyone gets treated. Equally, and fairly. Human from the surface, Domes or Flying city. Trow, Beastman,Scav, Derro or Terro it does NOT matter! You got that?" Lil stared at Pelza and sized her up. Pelza swallowed and saluted with a nervous grin. She said, "Yessim! I got that. I met my first Scav just today. He wasn't completely scary or monsterous, so he was an alright chap. If you want me, I'm in for the duration!" "Good. Get dressed. I'll give you twenty minutes to get dressed and showered, and I'll send you in a low priority case in to treat and see how you do." DOctor Lil Toungo tossed her disposable gloves back into the glove recycler where they became rubbery goo, ready to worn again, and left Pelza alone for the first time in twenty four hours.
