Description
Sigma 105mm EX DG Macro. Post in photoshop.
This is the last (for now) of the shots i took on that evening which the past weeks worth of shots were from. This one was a bit of an effort to get - the reason: i had to actually do some legwork over some rocks to get it just how i wanted it plus crouch with my back against a wall... anyway - it came out better than the other photographer who was there taking pictures with what looked like a more pro kit than i had (he was carrying a lowepro rucksack with a tripod attached to it). I pointed out the bird on the danger sign and just said "there we, take that" - so he did, but from a higher position which puts the top of the sign below the shoreline and thus an intensely boring composition. I am happy with the result and am learning the whole "legwork for composition" thing when it comes to prime lens photography :)
Anyway thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I would prefer to have comments with some constructive element to them - so if you want to tell me the shot is great or if it doesnt do anything for you please do so and then tell me why so i can see where i am going right or wrong :)
Enjoy!

I do like the feeling of space (on the one hand)... on the other hand, the focus point (bird on pole) is a bit too far for my liking. Overall placing is good, but I would have reduced the "space" on the left, by zooming in more, perhaps. Feels like I need more details on the focus point. All in all a good shot full of mood. Nice work! 8;o)

Perfectfly composed shot but for the slight upward tilt on the left that throws off the horizon a bit. But it is slight and the rest of this lovely image more than makes up for it! ;]

Yep it you are willing to work for shots like these you are going to get good results normaly.... I tend to spend most my time on my knees or belly while taking shots but hey I'm happy with what I get from it ;) OH and btw gear means nothing really.... just makes some captures easier or possible in some cases I guess ;) Now about this shot..... Love the compo and pov! The ligh is excellent and your slighly saturated colors are ideal.... Excellent shot once again! :)

I think the difficulties to get this shot payed off very well!

That's the way it's done - sometime you have to get your hands dirty. What the shot is concerned - I believe that st_fish is correct. Maybe not so much about closing in on the focus point - but more where it's placed. The two thirds rule applied would have made a good picture a very good one.
