I almost accidentally killed this little fellow, but it was nice enough to stay still while I got some macros then it flew away hope you enjoy and have an awesome weekend

This is a nice image of a Snout Butterfly. I just posted an image of one just a few days ago. They belong to the smallest family of butterflys (Libytheidae) and there are only about a dozen species worldwide. Two of these species live in North America but there are Snout Butterflys on every continent that has butterflys. They are a very old species. Fossil remains have been found in shale formations that date them back for at least 30 million years.

Very lovely little butterfly. I also photographed what I thought was a furry moth only to discover it was a butterfly... Really nice shot and lit well enough to pull out many details.
