This is a nice image of a Snout Butterfly. I just posted an image of one just a few days ago. They belong to the smallest family of butterflys (Libytheidae) and there are only about a dozen species worldwide. Two of these species live in North America but there are Snout Butterflys on every continent that has butterflys. They are a very old species. Fossil remains have been found in shale formations that date them back for at least 30 million years.
