Description

Here are my 2 entries for the "Wake the dead" contest. Of course I didn't win or get a place, personally I didn't think I would, because I designed my artworks with a sense of humour, which is my trademark. I did follow the guide lines, unlike several other contestants so what is the point of having a contest called 'wake the dead' ? Next time I will drop the PC and just do a 2D drawing, which is much easier ! No #1, depicts a hearse driver going outta control and just about take out a pedestrian. No #2, I used the Arena Rank gong-guy from the old movie intro's as inspiration for a movie with the same title "wake the dead". Cheers jif3d

I entered also with the same result, but I waited until the last day to make anything. obviously your results were far better than my feeble attempts. that video card would have been awesome but I was hoping only for a honorable mention. I enjoyed making mine and that is what counts.both of yours are excellent work and deserved to be in the running for a place among the winners

I'm sorry that you did not win anything on the contest! Both scenes have been wonderfully done with such a lot of dynamics in it! Make as mentioned by you a 2D art and you will be maybe more successful!Strange how they judge sometimes! Both scenes have their own fascination! I love them! Bravo!!!

I agree...let's do 2D next year, sigh... Your images though, great stuff. Probably too offbeat for the contest, but great scenes nonetheless!

Hahaaa! Excellent entries! The action in the hearse scene is, as usual for you, perfect, and the gong Bonger would certainly fit the bill.

Both great action shots with humour, definately should have got a prize. I love the top one, it is so true to theme. Made me laugh anyway. Keep up this wonderful work as much more to it then 2D.

Well I guess the judges just didn't have a sense of humor, (or maybe your images were just a bit over their heads!) I think their both beautifully crafted images and both hit the mark with "Waking the Dead!" Excellent work!

Fantastic realization of great effect of movement my friend....!!! I regret deeply that you have not been lucky in the competition, but many times it is this way, the concept of qualification of the juries is not the same one that the one that we have us. That is one of the reasons for those that I personally left of participating in competitions and challenges.....!!!! #:O)

Both are excellent renders!!!! For two years in a row, the winner was a 2D pencil drawing, so maybe the judges hate 3D!

Dear Jeff, I suppose if you've got to get run over by a car, a hearse would be very convenient - and tidy, too!! No sense having to disturb the emergency crews!!! ;-) And - If you REALLY want to wake the dead - forget the gong! Little Meredith can get anyone's attention, (alive or dead,) with just a gentle application of her prized fingernails to a convenient blackboard!!! Actually, there is a sheet metal status board right inside the door to our server room at work that works even better!! I always give the guys a little announcement of my arrival!!! (Although it's really sad to see them lying on the floor whimpering with their hands over their ears!!!) THE Boss suggested that I should carry around a small blackboard in my purse. Then If someone tried to mug me, I could just give it a little scrape - and the muggers would shoot themselves to escape the noise!! That's also very tidy!!! I'm sorry you didn't win. Next time, make sure I'm one of the judges because I love humorous stuff!! And besides, I've very susceptible to bribes!!! (And Tiffany's is having a sale!!!) Love, Meredith

I was not disappointed in the winning images this year but I must admit that I'm thinking of going over to 2D. There were many that I thought could have won but it was the sponsors who chose afterall. On of the works that I really loved was one I had seen before so it shouldn't have won as they are suppose to be all new. Would be nice if they had a separate 3D and 2D gallery. Very original and clever play on word works.
