Just want to know how far Carrara 1.1 can produce a realism 3D still. I think I am satisfied.
I use three light source (Anything glows is applied to three pane) and postition it on top, left and right of the objects..I think you can see it in the shades of the glass.
Anything glows applied to a plane gives a realistic production similar to a projector light box in a photography studio. The result is very soft light and gives good contrast to glass object. :)

a nice experiment. i haven't played much with the anything glows feature, but i think i will spend some time on it now. by the way, if you're searching for realism with transparency, you should look into simulating caustics. (the focusing of light rays as they pass through refractive material. like light patterns from water, or hot-spots on the table as the light passes through the glass and is focused.) does the soft light also produce soft ray traced shadows? or do i still have to sacrifice transparency by clicking soft shadows in the properties box?

I think using the Light Through Transparency can produce the caustics effect. But..the after render looks quite similar, I think need to experiment some more.. Shadow using raytrace in Carrara can only control the intensity or replace with a build in shadow casting, quite the same and not so natural.
