"Yeah, I remember it like it were only yesterday. Old Jack Pine went into the forest to do some huntin', but when he came out, he were changed a bit. all the things round here changed..... seems like the sun never shine no more, and we got new people livin' here in the town. Like the New Headmaster, and that school teacher Miss Barnhard, and then 'course there's the new preacher Rev. Trippgoode. don't rightly ever remember when exact they moved in here but they must've come here sometime. Seems like a lot a changes happened since Old jack went inta the woods....." (frome the last letter Cletus Epps sent to his sister living in Shrevbourg before his untimely demise at age 58, in 1965)
