Oh, very neat Mary. You should be proud of your grandson, hiking through such rugged terrain. Thanks for sharing this destructive (and constructive) view of the surroundings of Mr. Etna. You really give us a sense of scale here.

What a desolate scene. I am intrigued as to why two trees still survive. And look what hapened to TwoPynts turkey! Burned to a frazzle.

Ooooh! Look at those white trees! What a cool looking place...once it was very hot though. Beautiful photo, and managing to get your grandson in the shot definitly increased the sentimental value of it. #:o)

I've always heard about Mt. Etna and the incredible eruptions. This is a wonderful shot with a hint of what the volcano last managed to do. The power is evident. An interesting and marvelous shot!

Isn't it amazing of what the destruction of lava can do. Nothing can stop the lava flow. And one can't even think to walk over those sharp a'a rocks. I bet your grandson loved it hiking there. Excellent shot. Aloha

I know when we visited the lava flows in Oregon the lava rock was very light to pick up. This is impressive with the white trees against the black rock.
