Description

I was not looking forward to portraying this part of the story, either as a classic static image or in this pseudo comic strip style. Another experiment in the digital comic format. It's much harder to use this format than I thought, difficult to design and tricky to use with large amounts of text. Source images rendered in Poser and Vue 5 Pro Studio. Final image composited in Photoshop CS2. Thanks for looking. Feedback on the comic strip style would be appreciated, I want to get better at it ! p.s. Best viewed at full size, especially to read the text.

I think you've done a good job here, it drew me into the story really well.

Beautiful job -- are you working toward a whole comic book (that would be some task!). The only problem I see is that I find the light print a little hard to read against the light background (in the upper left panels). Perhaps a darking shadowing behind them? -D

I can understand why this would pose a challenge to illustrate; most of the 'action' here is psychological. It's a dramatic (traumatic?) story, and it's well portrayed in this storyboard style; the violent episode shown in silhouette is particularly so. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to vary the boxes in an irregular way, even overlapping in some cases, so that the reader's eye flows around the page in the proper sequence. The all caps font you used for lettering is super; try it in italics. Very well done!

I can see that, for this part of the story, it would have been difficult to convey the emotion and power through your usual static style. This is a great alternative, although I must admit I prefer your usual style as the 'default' for telling this story... Sprinkling the story with these occasional changes to the default is a good idea. BTW, Nice postwork on the comic style!

Excellent work as ever. You're efforts with the comicbook style work really well - it held my interest and left me wanting more (as your stiry always does!). I think that interspersing this type of storyboard look with your usual picture and text style could work very well and help the story to move along.

Concur with all the comments made here - all constructive and useful. Admire your effort - as there is so much potential within this kind of format for your very able and interesting storytelling.

I think this works brilliantly! I must admit I haven't followed all the episodes of your story but this pulls me right in and makes me want to turn the page! Very powerful and the illustrations look terrific :) Well done!!!
