Description

100% Bryce5. No post apart from text. Intrepid by Flat Eric. After nearly 2hrs rendering, Bryce crashed for some reason and I hadn't saved all the work I had done on the sky (2 infinite planes with cloud tex and a fractal light Gel as a 360 degree projection) So,one very quick re-build later ( and a save!) a totally different background emerged and it only took 5 mins to render!!!

Looks great, and I love Star Trek. :) The background is really great, but the white dots (star I think) take away from this image, especially because they overlap the starship. Nonetheless, always great to see this wonderful ship in a good render!

Steve, this really turned out nice, excellent lighting, background, ship details, and viewing angle! If you are willing to use 2D background for your Bryce space scenes, you may wish to investigate the "Galaxy" inc file for PovRay, lots of options, fairly easy to use (if I can do it, that pasrt must be true), free (again, a requirement for many of us, right!), and turns our really nice space backgrounds. Note, the background generated by you via Bryce here is Super! It seems to reflect light of the ship, which is an effect I think adds greatly visual impact to this cool artistic Sci-Fi render. I suspect a static background cannot be easily made to give the same effect.

Excellent work Steve, gives great sense of depth. The ship is fantastic. Talking of crashes!..my whole system collapsed and I am running on backup at the mo..so I will have to salvage what I can to cd and do a complete reinstall of everything lol!. Well done Steve!

or failing that, there's a freebie version of a program called 'Universe' by Diard software. Makes a good starfield. Another trick is to turn down the intensity of the stars, and just bump up the number. Great ship, tho. Tried modeling it once myself..the overall shape reminds me of a spoon..;) keep up the good work.

Fantastic! Well worth the redo, and sorry 'bout the crash mate. Looks awesome though. You don't want to know how long my latest took... popped Bryce back on the machine, straight out the box, forgot to tweak the render settings.. let's just say it took overnight and a cup of tea this morning before it finished ;) But yours was totally worth the wait!
