I had no idea what the fuss was all about when the media mentioned that an Airbus 380 would be landing at O.R. Tambo International (Johannesburg), South Africa today. So I jumped in my car and sped to the airport, and behold, there was a crowd waiting patiently for the 8am ETA of the Airbus. Unfortunately, the weather was not on my side, so everything looks a bit bland. Anyway, here it is, the A380 - what a bird. According to the media, O.R. Tambo Int. is the only airport in Africa able to accommodate this aircraft. I am not sure why, because the runway it landed on is only 3km (1.86 miles) long. Well - I suppose this is history in the making. I had to resample and crop to make it fit the specs for this gallery. Anyway enjoy!

Saw this at Farnborough UK, what a monster. It's hard to believe a thing of this size can actually get off the ground.

She's a beauty alright, I think you need to see this in person to appreciate its size. Hope it comes to the Canadian international air show sometime. Great reportage antong!!

Fantastic capture of this impressive jet. I wonder with all that extra space that two floors of seating gives if the airlines will find it in their hearts to give us poor coach passengers a little more leg room....sigh.... probably not
