Description

It sounds like an act of charity. But it could be an act of desperation or of massive invasion of privacy. Actually, downloaded a bus model last year from a web site to my computer and saved it on my hard disk. Sometime last spring I ran out of room and moved it to the external drive. About two weeks ago I openned it and decided to save it with some improvements to the hard disk once again. So what some viewers see in the slang of "downloading" is far from what happened but no one really wants to hear all the details. They want a "store." A "store" where it sits and is available immediately and with minimum drama. Now, Victoria, of DAZ fame, is who chose this bus as a prop. She knew that the USMC does not use tracked vehicles mostly and prefers trailers so they can be airlifted in slings off amphibious ships to the beach and beyond. So when I asked her to make a tracked version of the aircraft manufacturing tractor she first got a CAt and then chose this bus. I wanted a vehicle that does not go fast. John Deere makes an excellent construction crawler that is computer controlled with variable speeds up to a maximum of 6.8 mph. Now if it had worm drive like and old Model TT that would be ideal so it would be irreversible. She has her hands on her hips now and is half grimacing and half grinning. I did find a Stirling bus of the 30's that looks a lot like this bus in it's nose. Don't bother to search "Stirling bus 1930's" to find the page. I have the photo on my hard drive and you cnnot embarrass me to transfer it. Ford Motor resurrected the Stirling brand for large trucks just before they sold off it and the big Fords to Freightliner so I don't know it's status in trademarks today. Suffice it to say this model is not for sale here or under any of my other aliases. Let's look at the item a little closer. As I said earlier, it had the doors on the left side when I downloaded it. So it is from Japan or England or a rightside driving nation. It isn't a 1930's U.S. bus. It probably was never a school bus as it has rear doors. It does appear to have a rear escape door though so it may be adapted to a city or suburban bus line. I may need to add a fare box to the interior or.. It could be a car rental shuttle bus. That is how I would use it today in common practice. Updated with a low emission diesel or hybrid drive. But then I needed it for my USMC aircraft contractor factory as a tram. For that it needs an open top with a canopy, like an omnibus, and a trailer for capacity enhancement. RUSH! It's way late for the 10th of November and the museum openning in Quantico. Vickie is already looking at a fork lift and I am telling her that aircraft guys use small cranes or jacks. They used to call my phone all the time looking for fork lifts so I know there are few if not none there. If it cannot fly, or be air dropped it probably is too heavy for sling movement.

... and I hopped on. Which won't surprise you in the least. Don't worry, I've stopped chewing tobacco and taking snuff, so I won't pollute your bus. Mike

Bone shaking, rattling, smoking bus of the past - may find them somewhere in what was the commonwealth- Africa, or so. Roof rack for the chickens and other much needed stuff. Great modeling.

The wheels on the bus go round and round; this places great responsibility squarely on the shoulders of the driver. Square wheels make queer sounds passing over cobblestones. A stone bus is a happy bus, albeit something lackadaisical about arriving at its destination on schedule.

Dear Dale, I think it'd make a cool tourist area transit shuttle - maybe running up and down the beach. And I've ridding some similar ones, complete with the chickens onth roof in South America! Nice job of modeling and re-modeling, etc. As far as buses go, this is a very cute one!!! Love, Meredith
