Description

The Martian invasion chronicled by H. G. Wells is long over...and the invaders have won! Twenty-five years later a few human survivors try to survive (and, if possible, strike back) with the help of technology captured from the Martians. In this scene, a Martian Tripod attempts to stop the pilot of a Wasp strike craft (returning from some sneaky recon mission) from reaching her Wasp while it hovers in autopilot mode. The Wasp, developed after the discovery of a crashed Martian Flying Machine, is a prime irritant to the aliens, and they would very much like to study both the craft and the pilot. ----- This render was originally intended to be a quick one using some of the DAZ products I downloaded after joining the Platinum Club. The placement of every thing wasn't too bad, but the lighting took forever. I'm still not happy with the skin tone of the pilot, although I do like the slimely appearance of the Martian tentacles (where I added my own texture). I'm not sure if the hot billowing air effect under the Wasp is okay, I spent too long trying to add that minor detail and more or less gave up. Credits * image rendered in DAZ Studio 1.3 * background rendered in Bryce 6.0 * Victoria 3.0 RR, by DAZ * Sarina texture from Sarina's Patio, DM Productions, available at Renderosity * Aviatrix for V3, created by AS3Design, available at DAZ * Martian War Machine, created by KuroKuma, available at DAZ * The Wasp, created by Serrge, available at DAZ * Under the Bridge, created by Stonemason, available at DAZ

Excellent render! I like your use of colors - the blue and orange make a striking contrast. Very creative science fiction scene!

Eep! Great dynamic and action filled scene! I'm sure she'll make the Wasp and show those nasty ol' aliens a thing or two about flying! ^^

I thought our germs were supposed to have wiped them all out?! Stupid germs; can't count on them for anything! What's the bloody point of having germs if the one time we actually need them, they don't do anything!! Nice picture, though. :o)

Thanks for the feedback! CrimsonDesire: The resolution of this thrill-packed scene will be, well, resolved, if I make a second render using the same "set." But - don't tell anyone - you're on the right track! BtaraKtahn: You're sort of correct. You see the other aliens told the Martians they were daft to invade Earth, but they did it anyway just to show 'em. That invasion failed. So they invaded a second time. That one failed. So they invaded a third time. This invasion burned down, fell over, and then failed...but the fourth one...that stayed up!
