Description

My niece turned 15 on the weekend. Apart from making me feel old, it was a pleasure to celebrate it with her. I was there on the day she was born, I was the third person to ever hold her (not counting the medical staff that is). And I helped raise her. Shes a brilliant young lady, full of life and enthusiasm for everything. She recently received her juniour black belt in jui-Jitsu, has spend a few years learning how to play the drums, and is now taking up the electic guitar. Not to mention she likes to dable in the gothic look at times. So for her birthday, I presented her with her first real ADULT rocker leather jacket, seen here. Ive only been doing photography for about 6 months now - But 20 years in film, and even more than that in other art forms brought me to the medium. This was shot with a new Canon S3 IS, and modified in Photoshop CS2. PS - Before adding comments like "Sexy" or "hot", please keep in mind -First off, she's my niece - Second - Shes only 15 - and lastly, shes not the only one in the family with a black belt ;)

Hmmmm and if I remember right, you're close enough to carry that threat of the black belt with me... lol But I'm a woman so I wouldn't say things like sexy or hot about her. I really like your picture! She's cute, I love the colours and her pose and how you blurred the whole background and made it more blue, it makes for a really cool picture! Superb shot! And you can tell her she looks both sweet and cool with that jacket on :)

Well she is cute. Reminds me of my niece. Actually your story of holding her is very similar to what happend with my second niece I was probably the third person to hold her. It's when I realized that she was going to be a handful, and she has been every since. I like how you made her the main focus of the image by blurring the background. You're a good unk. :)

Yes, she is a wonderful young lady. Surprises me more with every passing year. Like most teens, she too is a handful, and has caused her share of headaches of course. But thats kids today - and tomorrow - and yesterday, if I remember my own teens well =). Thanks ever so much for the compliments. Yes, I had to do quite a bit of postwork on this. It was a dreary rainy weekend, very grey out, and we shot it in the parking lot of the restaurant we took her too, so having a mini-mall and parking lot as a backdrop killed the image. Thanks again.

What a sweet looking girl with one of those smiles that are contagious. I love your photo of her. That green umbrella against that blue background was a prop-genious-move if you ask me. #:o)

Love the contrast of green and blue. The blurring of the background really makes her pop. Hope you have a framed copy of this :)
