BIO
Married, 2 kids, mostly happily employed. Found Rendo in the fall of 2004, though at this point I don't remember just how I ended up here anymore. Probably linked off a fantasy art site somewhere perhaps. Lurked and checked out all the cool artwork for a few months before downloading DAZ|Studio and trying my hand at a few images. Had enough fun with that and the luck to have worked a significant amount of overtime at the time to purchase Poser 5 & PSP9 without busting the budget. Do well enough in Poser, though not nearly as well as I'd like. There's just not enough time in the day to do it all. When not working, doing things with family or Posering I love to read Sci-Fi and Fantasy (mostly), play computer games and chat with friends online. I've yet to chat with anybody here. And while I'm on MSN quite frequently it's almost always with the ID that I run in my Harry Potter game. So, that being said, should you wish to converse, I can be reached on MSN at janussparhawkAThotmail.com (replace AT with @) I'd love to get to know you all more. :)

Hey John, here is a suggestion- render to Tiff in poser, this preserves the alpha channel separating the character from the background. Load the image into Photoshop, then double click on the "background" layer and conver to a true Layer, then you can select the alpha channel in Photoshop, invert the selection, delete the background- then you can color the figure however you want and place on any background you wish- thus attaining the sihlouette desired. Might be a little easier than above described method- hope this helps! -Jeff

I will try to send you how to use Alpha chanel in PSP. The truth is is use PS and i have to figure out how to use the option in PSP. LOL I dont know, but for me the image is a little to dark. But maybee its my monitor or i need glasses. LOL

All I see is a big black page.

First of all: I like very much what you did and the trick with the semi transparency is great! Using tiff format and alpha channel for postwork sounds like a good idea. It's just the same in PSP as it is in PS. Selction/ Load/Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Or similar, I don't have the English version of PSP.

Well John, jdehaven gave some great info there for future reference, and just to add to that, you can also save your render as a Photoshop image and still use the channel feature, I do it all the time. Excellent work in any event!
meselfr
I can barely see it if I click on the enlarged view and up da brightness on my monitor... cool idea...

Dear John, You've gotten a bunch of good advice above. The main thing to remember is that there are lots of your friends that can probably help when you get stuck doing something! IM for help! I've done it more than once!! Alpha channels, green screens, and stuff is the ocean I swim in!! As a quick variation to pop it out a little, switch the image to grayscale, then ease the gamma up just a little until you get the definition you want. Quick and dirty, but it works - (I just tried it!!) ;-) Love ya!!!!! Meredith

I belive in you my friend, that you have a silhouette here!!!! And I know now, that i have to buy a new monitor!!!!!! LOL!!!!

great idea john, its a teaze if ever i saw one, ;o) maybe im not thinking straight but i would have rendered her in poser without any backdrops/floors, then saved her as a png and in your editing programme alter the brightness and contrast to the desired shade/slatness and then add another layer with your screen effect on and reduce the opacity down, .........i never understood alphas and gammas lol.
frankiemas
Wow this silhouette looks fantastic and this lady is very nicely shaped!!! Kudos on this one John, even I can't do this and regardless how dark it looks, to me it's still fantastic artwork :O) Excellent artwork John!!! Hugsss Frankie ^_^
