Description

Victoria 2 by DAZ Total Hair by Harvey Mann Uzilite Blouse from Renderosity Free Section with texture by KFox MultiSkirt by Ron Molina NightLife shoes by DAZ Barstool from DAZ's freebie section This image is the result of working with two very different 3D programs. One of course is Poser, the other is a legacy program which still has a great deal of usefulness in this day and age: Pixar Animation Studio's Typestry 2, an application for creating dimensional type with its world-famous photorealistic Renderman renderer. Renderman is the same one used in Pixar's acclaimed animated shorts and features, the most well-known (and loved) being , of course, "Toy Story". The blue tile wall, red oak flooring and "V" were created and rendered in Typestry, then brought into Poser as a background image. The red oak texture, from Pixar's One Twenty Eight CD-ROM collection of seamless textures, was also used to texture the ground in Poser to "extend" the floor. I then brought it into Photoshop to get rid of the seams between the two floors and add additonal type. For those of you not familiar with the older 3D progams, Typestry is also capable of animation, with fog, particle emissions and motion blur. Perhaps my image will inspire you to dust off your old legacy programs and start using them in conjunction with Poser! :-)

Very nice. I am not familiar with Animation studio typestry 2 but it looks like a very interesting programme. Well done.

Thanks for showing us, it's a very perky image and nicely done too. I am not familiar with the program either but I am new to the digital art world I guess....I have only been doing this just over a year (I think...lol) so I have missed out on some stuff.

Thank you all for the positive comments about this image. Of all the images to date that I've posted on R'osity (which aren't a lot, I'll admit, LOL) I had the most fun working on this one as it enabled me to make use of two 2D programs. Those of you who said they were not familiar with Typestry, the program I used to create the background, Pixar Animation Studios stopped production of it sometime in the mid-90's, but another one of its products, Showplace, (which like Typestry uses Renderman as its renderer) is still being produced and marketed by the Valis Group (www.valisgroup.com). There are a number of current Windows and Mac 3D apps that use Renderman, such as Pixels3D and Entropy. Ever since "Toy Story" came out, I've been a huge fan of Pixar and its Renderman software for its awesome ability to create photorealistic images in 3D. Some of you may not be aware that Poser figures and props can be exported as RIB files and have Renderman shaders applied to them in a program that supports it. Learned something new, huh? :-) Have a great day!
