Description
Another shot of the Hermitage, when George Chubb had finished building the hermitage in 1790 he added a protective wall on the cliff edge. Standing by the wall you look down into the deep forest below, the hermitage is very high up. I like to think of this area as his garden. A circle of stones marking the end of his land. I cannot begin to imagine what it must have been like to live here. Dear Richard, no high speed internet connection!! No running water, no anything. Just his house and his little garden. This is so fascinating. I'm sure it would get very old very quickly, but once in a while i think it would be grand to live in a little spot like this. :-) It sure would be a great place to visit. :-) (mousie count is now up to eight.)
