Description

I had posted as a whim a very old snap (over a century old) of my mother as a small girl (by the way, no retouching in that one or on these), and got a good amount of feedback. So this is a follow up. The one on the left is dated about 1906 (my aunt Elsa, the younger girl, was born 1903). Grandma was a young widow, and the older girl is my mother. The other snap is dated in the 30's. Elsa (black hair) was a very famous theater actress by then. She didn't like movies, but made some to make money and keep the theater going. Mother is the blonde. She couldn't act at all, but tried to, and made a trial audition. She was busted even for a minor role, never appeared in the movie, and this stage shot is the only trace of her tentative stage carreer. I think Elsa is glaring at her because of her incompetence.
