Description

This lumbering factory, a handy landmark, sits on a tiny island in a canal that empties into the Moscow River. It's now defunct and has been bought out by developers, but up until recently, you could stroll along the river in an envelope of the aroma of chocolate.

I would hope they leave this as heritage. What a beautiful building. Your capture of it is very good.

What a fantastic capture of an incredible scene, I wouldn't like to call the building a factory because it's a real stunning piece of architecture and a marvellous setting, I know what you mean by the smell, we used to get freshly made bread along our canal.

In Moscow with collectivization it could become the biggest restaurant of all. Imagine the seating arrangement and long walk to your table with the hostess or host. Building the riverside tables and boardwalk with shortages and bribes could take a decade. I love Russia where my most bureaucratic snarls are not cynical.

Oh man! As a kid, I used to hang out on industrial mud flats. This building remind me of this building (only in brick not red). Thanks for the nice flashback.

Great shot. Hope they keep the building and work around it for the development. Too much glass and steel around cities as it is. Quite a contrast with the Red Star on the skyline and the Mercedes Benz sharing it!

A fantastic piece of history! I love the red brick. Such a shame if they tear it down. ARchitecture is beautiful to me.

Splendid old building Aaron and an excellent POV. I have been to Moscow (briefly) en route to Japan and unfortunately never got the chance to see the beautiful old City. Thank you for sharing this excellent historical image!.

A lovely photo and text to go with it...that red factory really stands and out reflects nicely in the water. Post more photos, please! :)

Hope they keep it intact - that's a great capture of a bit of Industrial heritage there...
