Description

The Parthenon in Athens, Greece, was a temple built on the Acropolis (mountain, or hill) 500 years before Christ. It is one of the world's most popular touristic attractions. The ancient Greeks coined the word "democracy" in that period. The Romans adopted the idea, and so did we in the West. "Democracy" (literally "people" + "power") means in practice that chosen (elected) representatives of a nation rule for an agreed period of time.
