Description
This artwork is loosely based on a illustration by Peter Elson that appear in the 1979 book "Great Space Battles" (by Stewart Cowley and Charles Herridge).
This book is a part of a collection of four large illustrated science fiction books published between 1978 and 1980.
The books titles was:
* Spacecraft 2000-2100 AD
* Great Space Battles
* SpaceWreck: Ghost Ships and Derelicts of Space
* Starliners: Commercial Travel in 2200 AD
The books formed a connected space-opera milieu, describing the future history of mankind's expansion into the galaxy, presented in the guise of official handbooks by the Terran Trade Authority organization from which the "historical" setting of the books takes its name.
The illustrations of these books, by several authors, was seminal for me and for my "spaceship design taste". They were one of the reasons for which I have developed my career in the field of Science Fiction.
This artwork, after so many years, is my tribute to these precious books.

!!!!!!! Spacecraft 2000-2001?!?! I haven't thought of that book since the early '80s! I LOVED that book as a kid. I'd love to lay my hands on it again as an RPG resource if not just for nostalgia. Yes this picture does seem to capture that atmosphere so well.

Here it goes but this is going to date me. I owned that book in 9th grade, 1979. And he was one of the artists that inspired me. As always great tribute! And well done. You did an excellent job of capturing his style.
