Description

This was a test of a GroBoto 2.0 imported mesh, originally produced as a scene that came with the software. So I'm guessing modeled by Darrel Anderson ;) After playing with it for a while, and getting carried away adding point lights around the spikey object (at least 7, the last time I counted...lol!) I decided to make it worthwhile by rendering it out and posting. Volumetrics atmosphere using the beta plug-in by D.Laslov. Materials are a slightly tweaked Desert mat from Dusted planet which provides a rather nifty shiney metal! Thanks Lewis :) Slight postwork in Artweaver TFV&C

Cool golden structures. Great to see you becoming active again, Dave:) I think the meshes could use a bit more resolution (may be subdivide them once more or add some more edge loops here and there)

LOL@Slav....This was a test import with lower res mesh. You are correct though. I can output from groBoto at higher resolution but for testing purposes I wanted to keep it low. Also at present it doesn't supply a .mtl file so had to transport it via Bryce and convert the original mesh to .3ds there to get a multi-material stack. Bryce can take ages with an high res .obj load. MJW loads an .obj file without an associated .mtl file without any materials or grouping for applying variation of materials. groBoto team are already onto it, to provide a way to get a .mtl file output connected to the .obj exports ;) If you like you can check out the original groBoto modeling in the Tribalbead1 pic (9/10) http://www.groboto.com/gallery-i-01/webpages/detail.np/detail-09.html

Interesting Structure Dave, despite the low res. Is the black areas a UV map issue also? The spikey item you could have created with MJT :-) But thos materials are really really dreamy :) Great Work!
