Description

I took some cut flowers out into the garden on Thursday. Sun had his hat on! Within seconds, this little fellow alighted. It is December.. Is this a honey bee? Dedication has to bee for Flannelman/Don, who just loves bugs. Can anyone identify, please. Sorry Goha... a know we are not best keen on bugs!! Funny carry on, my own bugs do not make me itch!!! Have a wonderful eventine. I will catch up in gallery. Sir David (Oom Bear) is home, we had such a happy day. Supper to cook now.... Hugs for all. Diane.

LOL @ Oom Bear! This is not a bee but one of the flies mimicking a bee if I am not mistaken. I love the fact that you venture into the macro exposures and this one has good clarity and detail. Good luck!

I agree with Piet. it is a mimic because of one set of wings and there is a flat place on the eyes. still, before I knew there was such a thing I was afraid of them. fortunately they do not bite like their cousin the fly. they do make lots of noise buzzing around. like a dog that barks but no bite. stunning macro Di

Lovely closeup. I find these shots are so hard to get as just as I am going to press the shutter the bug flies off as if they are camera shy.

I'm a-doing the Bee Dance! Yup, Flannelman loves those bugs for sure and I bet he can tell you what this one is. I'm guessing you are right though and its a honey bee. Great shot.

I would have said a bee, but after reading the comments I will say it is not. Are there really flys that can mimic bees? Anyway amazing shot! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. BJ
