Description

Just adding in the finishing touches still to this new isosurface world... Here ive used 2 completely seperate isosurfaces, one for the rocks and one for the sands.. This has made life much simpler and also thrown in some great benefits.. 1. You can achieve the effect of material looking as though it has convincingly piled up or been deposited on your other surface,(sand in this case, but it would also work for snow, earth, e.t.c.) 2. It makes adding texture easier because you just start from scratch on the seperate isosurfaces. 3. You get some neat rocky outcrops poking out over the second surface. The way to do it is to replicate your first isosurface, and remove everything but the basic first shape(which should be your large scale hills/mountains), this will make your second isosurface rise and fall in height the same way as your first one, then adjust your highest altitude of your second isosurface so that its for the most part covering the lower parts of your first one. Lastly you should lower your result scale(or max output in the curve) of the second isosurface until it is covering the lower parts of the first only. You can then apply different displacements to it for sand, snow or whatever else you have in mind. That was ridiculously long sorry, maybe i'll do a tut and post it in the forum, as i think this is a handy trick.. Created using Dmytrys volumetric plug-in. Cheers... Shaun
