Description

Here is one panel of a multipanel visual aide I created for 10th grade History class. It's supposed to depict the Huns, but was "adapted" from Frank Frazetta's, "Bran Mak Morn." Unfortunately, due to maturity issues of some of my classmates, the other panels didn't survive the display. Once again, Venus Velvet #2 pencil on Strathmore sketchpad.

Man this is true artistry at work one thing Ive yet to master sketching. Copying what I see I can do very well but to just sit down and sketch and shadow is like having the gene to be able to cup your tongue in a bowl shape or not. (Sigh) Awesome pic!

I know the original painting well; you did a nice job of rendering the idea in pencil. Very forceful, and the scary feeling of the huns comes across.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. I wanted to say, zhaanman, that this actually is an example of MY capacity to copy what I see (unfortunately? I usually think so..). When I was going over these old pieces, I was beginning to think of exactly how much study of anatomy, and how much practicing it would take to get me to the point that I could generate imagery such as this from within. Frazetta has that down, for certain.
