Description
I was having a picnic with the family when I spotted this bird cruising over a dam. I was not prepared for it so I just snapped it. It may be a little over-exposed, but I liked the result anyway. Maybe you can give me a tip on setting the camera's exposure metering setting when the subject is bright and the background is dark!!!! I had to crop this photo quite a bit too. Anyway enjoy.

The back is a little blown as you mntioned but the rest of the wings are very well captured without loss of detail or contrast. You could not have timed it better for the wings almost touching the surface. Great reflection. Excellent photo.

I don't think you had time for any metering.In cases like these set your metering to matrix, take a chance, and enjoy what the camera gives you. I would be happy you even got this so clear.
