Description


A 64,000 atom macromolecular endocannabinoid. Image rendered a few years ago during research. Produced using the UCSF Chimera package from the Resource for Biocomputing, Visualization, and Informatics at the University of California, San Francisco (supported by NIH P41 RR-01081). Yes, I did this on an IBM Thinkpad, 768 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 16 MB VRAM, in SuSE. Each atom was using about 1 MB RAM. Any manipulation of the molecule in GLView mode was painfully slow and two days of crashing before I got it to render :)
