Description

I am starting a new series of freestyle poetry called 'Earth in Distress'. Reading about that poor dolphin species and many others have made me do some heavy thinking. So here's the first. *********************** Death to the world This is what we say Every time we start our cars, Every time we fly high in the endless blue sky. Death to the world is the message our factories chug upwards into the air, The fires say as they heat up The ground below and air above. Death to the world Is broadcast to the depths of the salty oceans As our ships spill their sludge and churn up rubbish into the seas Death to the world as species after species die from lack of pure oxygen, lack of food as the grass withers, forced into tiny fence bound parks. Death to the world as we send shuttles into space whose burning fuels thin day by day our precious Ozone layer Death to the world? It will be death to us!

Wow! What a confrontation with our conscience! We take a man into space and rule over the laws of nature and yet we cannot rule over the nature of man's ways. Thought provoking.

Thanks for your comments, they are all really appreciated. Now for the challenge - what can each one of us do to help stop this destruction? Think on it but don't stop there - do something too! Hugs all!

I think you have summed up this sad state of affairs beautifully Sue. Thing is, it's only the politicians that can make the real change and I suspect an unbiassed documentary on the percentage responsibility of each cuplrit would go a long way to helping people make an educated guess on the way forward. I wonder if it would ever get to air though? Steve :o)
