Description

I took this in the 70's with a Gremany file camera I had. When it broke I stop takeing photos. I had a family to take care of. Now they gone so I doing art again. I also bought a Epson perfection 4490 photo scanner. It can scan film and slides. I find this old film and some of it was breaking down. In other words; going bad. When I scan this image off the film [for I do not have the photo any more]. I looked at it and saw the colors it have. I say "Is this the colors they had in the 1970's??? Or is it just the age of the film doing this???" Oh this is a place called Red Dirt it in certal Louisiana part of a nation park. I hopeing to go up there after the hunting season is over. The land is so wonderful there with rolling hills and Long leaf Pine trees Maybe I see what the colors is in 2007 on film thanks for looking and comments

The colors don't look too bad for their age. Most of my stuff from that era looks like this as well, probably the chemistry has improved a lot since then. Sounds like a great place to hang out, when does hunting season end?

Looks fine to me Jock, but you know I'm not into photography personally. I like that sky color! The dirt looks like a strawberry blonde red. Pretty little future Christmas trees growing in there! lol q-: Fantastic pic! (:

Some of my old pictures had turned a little off colors as compared to the original. Yours is in better shape than mines. Aloha

It would be interesting to see if you could photograph the same area.

Great to restore some of these old photos Jock. This one has got all the elements to do a conversion to greyscale and sepia. Lots of cloud detail and tall grasses, I would sharpen it up and then convert it if it was mine..adjusting the contrast and brightness until I get a more than reasonable result. You could even go for high contrast and/or grain...The choices are endless. Thanks for sharing.

Great save, Jocko! It even has that 70s photograph look to it. You were lucky to have been able to preserve it, you technical genius, you! Excellent work.

A fascinating and dry looking area! The light and color setting looks very intersting here! Many purposes can be the reason of the special light here! An excellent upload with this POV!!!

Cool save Jocko! My father was a hobbyist photographer for many years, and about once a month, my Mom brings over old slides from the 50's thru 80's for me to scan. (I have a series dedicated to him, where I messed with.. "god forbid" his photos lol ) What is interesting, is that the old Ektachrome shots seem to get color saturated with age (especially yellows and reds), and the Kadachrome shots seems to fade quite a bit .. This could be an interesting forum topic, as trying to scan these older slides, and trying to preserve the original color and dynamic range is quite the challenge! I've worked with restoring B&W late 1800 photographs, but color restoration for me is quite a task, and I'm still experimenting :) (Sorry for the Novel) All the best!

My father always said Ektachrome had a reddish cast compared to Kodachrome. Maybe after time has passed the complement appears. Ansco might be neutral.

Jocko this is a nice ladspace photo and it is wonderful that you found an effective way to 'recapture" it with your scanner and preserve this artistic image!
