I am wondering by which region of the world you were inspired; probably not the Ardennes, nor the Fagnes, in Belgium which this snow-covered landscape evokes me. A subtle contrast of black shadows and snow plays in the branches, sharp as thorns, which bristle the dead trunk in the foreground; the crow in the snow creates the same contrast. I like also the contrast of the brown of the herd. It is as two forms of the flow of life: the slow crossing of animal warmth and the icy but thirst-quenching stream. All this in the heart of the winter.
