ah that is what the Dutch call a "Reiger".. we saw how Darwin's theorie worked in 1979. That was a real winter.. an ice cold winter.. Those Reigers who dared to come to town survived that winter, others who did not dare died. The Reiger is now a city birth.. often standing outside windows of houses where they know people life who give them regular food.. Amazing birds. They do not even step aside for people.

What a lovely capture of the Great Blue Heron. They love to winter at the zoo since the food is easy pickings. Excellent color and details. Bunny
