Hi All, I started out using Bryce, Poser, Photoshop and every other arty program I could get my hands on back in the early 90's but sort of dropped off doing much these past few years. I spend 40+ hours a week in front of a computer at work and somehow tinkering at home just lost it's appeal. But this past july, in the face of my 40th birthday, my need to "get creative again" got the better of me and I am back! I have resolved to make one publishable artwork per day. I did this because I know from experience that without some sort of deadline I tend to overwork pieces to the point where I won't publish them because they irritate me (and they never will be "perfect"). I don't expect that I get a masterpiece every day but I feel pretty good about what I have done these past few months. Occasionally I go back and rework an older image so I always welcome feedback, especially any suggestions for improvement.
Here are my personal favorites in my gallery, in no particular order:

lolol Boggles the mind! And doesn't surprise me. I had heard of the French doing this, but never heard of anyone doing anything about it. I know if you wanted to publish a picture of the Eiffel Tower you had to get permission and usually got it. What the fee is I don't know. The unions own France they control what goes on. SNTE (SociNouvelle d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel) is listed as a company, but in reality it is part of the union, usually it is when it has 'Soci. I know at one point they were having contract disputes with the City of Paris. Now, if you spend much time in France you will soon learn Paris does what it wants. lol damn the rest of the country! What I don't understand is why Rendo pulled your photo. You took it, it is your property, which you could have a copyright on, as long as you don't publish it for profit or exploitation. You didn't publish anything, posted a picture you took. I'm just wondering if it would hold up in a court of law. How do you copyright a public 'building' for a better word? lol Sorry it was pulled, it was a great picture.

Sorry to hear about your Eiffel Tower shot. Wish I had seen it. But I do like this one. Great color and I really like the composition.

I knew about this regulation on the Eiffel Tower but never heard of it being enforced since it is one of the most recognized likenesses in the world and if not for its popularity, it would not be such a big dollar draw around the world. Anyway, everyone I have talked to about this agrees its the goofiest thing they've heard of. BTW, this post here is great!

Once again, a great image. Simple in form, but evoking so much more. As to the Awful Tower bit, It's the French, what do you expect. Of course this from a country that thiks Quiche and the Maginot line are good ideas.

I really like this pic, maybe the contrast between the colors of the wood and the water. The whole Eiffel Tower thing is the stupidest thing I've heard of! I could almost understand it for people making money off the image, but if you aren't making money off of it you should be able to post the picture wherever you want...I would think that it would fall under the Fair Use Act (http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html). I guess I'm just mad because I didn't get to see your pic of the tower!!! Oh well, I'm sure that I'll get over it. Sorry to hear that you got sick on your trip, though...hope that you're all better soon!
