Description
Here's an experiment of using a photographic backdrop and trying to merge the render into it.
The mountains in the background and sky are from a photo I took in ireland. The mountains in the midground and the lake (and tree and ship) are all rendered in Carrara. The sun is also Carrara as is the lens flare.
One annoying thing I've found is that backdrops aren't reflected in the scene. So the reflection of the sky in the lake is actually Carrara's sky and not the photo.
Thanks for looking.

Very effective, the colour and light for the sky's seem to match perfectly, you would not suspect there are two worlds here. A calming and oddly surreal image. Does the ship flap or just catch the breeze?

I like this piece a lot! Very nice perspective as well.

Very cool! Did you use a fractal_sum node to create the ripples in the water?
drawbridgep
LOL, Like I have any idea what a fractal_sum node is. :-) I just clicked on "calm water" option.

Works really well.. You've often made 3D images that looked like photographs - now you've made a photograph look like a 3D image..! It's practically impossible to see what is photo and what is 3D. Excellent.

Very good image!

Excellent composition. I think the reflection works well given how well you matched the lighting.
